Lila (Rice) Escobar passed away on Jan. 27, 2022 at Memorial Hospital at the age of 90 years, seven months and 29 days. Her death was due to age related illnesses she had dealt with for many years. She was born in Deming, New Mexico on May 29, 1931 to Robert B and Amanda Lue Rice both predeceasing her. She had resided in the Oakdale area the majority of her life having attended grammar school, and graduated Oakdale High School in 1950. She retired from Tri-Valley Growers in 1996.
She is predeceased by her husband Joe Escobar, twin granddaughters, twin grandsons, seven brothers and one sister. She is survived by her three daughters, Lavana (David) Boyd of Oakdale, Dallas (Dave) Brunetti of Modesto and Carla (Randal) Darner of Oakdale. Survived also by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a brother Byrum (Deanna) Rice and a sister Alice Pauline Fields, all of Oakdale, as well as many nieces and nephews. She attended the West Oakdale Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She looked forward to the promise the Bible holds out to those who fall asleep in death of a resurrection back to earth where she will be free of all her illnesses. Due to COVID concerns, a virtual memorial service will be held on February 26 at 2 p.m. Any interested in attending can contact the family for details.
