Martin Guerra Nunez, 76, of Riverbank died Sunday, Oct. 5.

He was born Oct. 15, 1931, one of six siblings to Jose and Francisca Guerra Nunez.

He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.

He enjoyed playing and watching baseball. He enjoyed playing pool and horseshoes, as well as gambling at the casinos. In pool and horseshoes, his competitors found if difficult to beat him.

In earlier days, he would let his nieces and nephews drive him to the local carwash so his Thunderbird could be washed and fully detailed.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Dickerson of Oakdale; brother, Nick Nunez of Modesto; sisters, Jennie Banuelos, Pauline Villela, both of Riverbank, Carolyn Velasquez of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ronald, Sabrina, and Sherrie; and Manuel Nunez.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Estrada.

He left the family with fond memories. The Nunez family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the prayers and moral support for him during his illness.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at Assembly of God Church, 3126 Stanislaus St., Riverbank.

Remembrances may be sent to Alexander Cohen Hospice House, Hughson.
