Mervin B. Powers, 89, of Riverbank died Monday, April 25 at Memorial Medical Center.

A native of Wisconsin, he lived in Riverbank for 77 years. He was a member of Riverbank Assembly of God for 76 years and served on the board. He was a railroad switchman for 35 years for Santa Fe. He enjoyed hunting and helping others.

He is survived by his three daughters, Nadine Jones of Springfield, MO, Fern Jones of Riverbank and Kathy Gaskill of Modesto; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Powers, and one grandson.

A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, April 30 at Riverbank Assembly of God Church. Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
