It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Eugene Hendrix announces his passing. He was born in Oakdale, California on October 5, 1945 and died at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto on April 6, 2021, due to complications after a medical procedure. He was 75 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Chalmer and Lucille Hendrix, his sister and brother-in-law Elwanda and Sherman Porter, his brother Carroll Hendrix and his infant son Jason Eugene Burgan Hendrix, his Father-in-law Pete Norton and Mother-in-law and Step Father-in-law Pauline and Hubert Van Vugt.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Patti Hendrix of Riverbank, CA, son Eric Hendrix of Molino, Florida, son Brandon (Nicole) Hendrix of Sonora, California. He leaves four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister-in-law Donna Hendrix of Lakeside, OR sister-in-law Debbie (Willie) Sikma of Ripon, California as well as many other family and friends.
Norm was born in Oakdale, California after the family moved from Ava, Missouri in 1943. Norm was affectionately called “Babe” as he was the youngest of the three children. Norm attended Riverbank Elementary School and Oakdale High School. Norman married Peggy Rose in 1967 and they were blessed with three sons, Jason (deceased), Eric and Brandon. Norm married his second and current wife, Patti in 1979 and was happily married for 42 years.
Norm retired in 2000 from Oakdale School district, prior to that Norm worked in various employment positions until he discovered his true vocational calling in the cabinet making industry. During those years Norman made many lifelong friendships that he treasured.
Norm enjoyed dirt bike riding, hunting with hounds for raccoons and bears with his uncles and his brother Carroll. Norman was a member of the Riverbank Bass Anglers. He was also a member of the Modesto Harley Owners Group, where he enjoyed riding his Harley and making new lifelong friends. Norm enjoyed golf, a cold brew, and a good joke. He had some crazy dance moves and a contagious laugh that could bring you to tears. Norm was always the life of the party. Norm and Patti hosted many gatherings for friends and family in their backyard patio and pool that he thoroughly enjoyed.
A visitation will be held on Sunday April 18, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home - Riverside Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 19, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home – Riverside Chapel.
