Patrick Shawn Brennan, 50, of Escalon passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 following a series of long-term major infections and complications due to diabetes.

Born on Feb. 13, 1964 in Sonora to Patrick and Lana Brennan, he and his brothers, Shannon and Kenny, grew up in Eugene, CA. and were raised by their single father after their mother’s untimely death in 1977. He worked the family ranch with strict guidance shaping his strength of character, values, and work ethics. He left high school to begin working for Jim Thomas and Gene Hamner at Thunderbird Helicopters and Ag Flight aerial spraying services. He later worked as a backhoe operator with Wallace Barnhill of Valley Home.

Wallace mentored Patrick for several years before transferring his business ownership where he became the sole proprietor of Patrick Brennan Trenching and Excavating. Mr. Brennan was well known throughout the ag communities of Stockton, Escalon, Oakdale, Riverbank, and Valley Home. He also contracted with Roche Bros., Inc., Pacific Southwest Irrigation, OID, MID, South San Joaquin, Wagner Dairy and others who connected him to many area farmers and friends.

As a member of the Valley Home community, he played men’s softball and clubhouse basketball, volunteered with the fire department and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He shared 21 years with his best friend and companion, Lisa Roche, traveling, exploring, and enjoying their mutual passion for offshore, big game sport fishing, as well as local tournament fishing for striped bass, trout and kokanee. In addition to hunting and collecting guns, he also enjoyed golfing, attending motorsport events and hockey games. Although he had no children, Mr. Brennan loved kids and providing them opportunities to enjoy a fun-filled, playful and memorable childhood. He was a fixture at Valley Home School. He was proud of assisting in the ground preparation and playground installation at Walt Hogan Memorial Park and other Escalon community parks. Family and friendships were deeply important to him and he touched the lives of many and was blessed by their love and friendships. He will be missed.

He was extremely grateful to spend time in his declining health being lovingly cared for and tended to by his lifelong friends and extended family Keith, Stella, Kevin, and Stefany Pope.

Survivors include his brother Shannon Brennan (Crystal) of Denio, NV; nephews Brent Brennan (Kristy) of Rogerson, ID and Jacob Brennan of Kings River, NV; niece Meghan Brennan of Elko, NV; and great-niece Lilly Anne Brennan of Rogerson, ID.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Patrick and Lana, and his brother Kenneth Stanfield.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club, 25195 E. River Road, Escalon.
