Peter Gabriel Gomez-Sandoval, 19, of Modesto died Monday, Jan. 3 at his home.

A native of Modesto, he lived in Modesto most of his life. He attended schools in Modesto and Sacramento, graduating from Sacramento High School in June 2003. He attended California State University, Sacramento where he was a History major. He was a member of the Xi Phi Chi Fraternity and resided at Sutter Hall dormitory. He was employed by Minnie's in Modesto during the summer and Merlino's Freeze in Sacramento. His fight against lymphocytic leukemia began in Sept. 2001. His search for a bone marrow donor inspired hundreds of people from Placerville, Sacramento, Davis, Stockton, Modesto and Turlock to donate blood and join the National Marrow Donor Registry.

He is survived by his father, Guadalupe Sandoval and step-mother Donna Paul, both of Sacramento; mother, Bobbie Gomez-Juette and step-father, Bill Juette, both of Modesto; brothers, Michael and Forrest Juette, both of Modesto; grandparents, Maria Sandoval of Riverbank and Rachael Monroy of Idaho; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Juan Sandoval, uncle Peter Sandoval and aunt Irene Gomez.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 7 at McHenry Chapel-Franklin and Downs. Burial at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held.
