Ruth Marie Powell, 86, of Riverbank died Wednesday, April 6 at Memorial Hospital.

A native of Kansas, she lived in Stockton for 45 years prior to living in Riverbank for the past five years. She was a teacher for Stockton Unified School District for 50 years. She taught at Elmwood Elementary; Stockton Junior High; Webster Junior High and Edison High School. She was a member of both St. Frances of Rome and St. Georges Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Women's Center of Stockton, Phi Kappa Delta and National Organization of Women.

She is survived by her children, Jack W. Powell of Oklahoma, Zandra J. Morris of Stockton, F. Jay Powell of Oklahoma and James S. Powell of Riverbank; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vada Jerene Jones.

A Memorial Mass was said on Tuesday, April 12 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, Riverbank. Private inurnment. Visitation and Rosary were held previously.
