Samuel Layton Huey, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 27.
He was born in Floydada, Texas.
Mr. Huey was a veteran of World War II. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 22 and served in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany as an artillery forward observer.
He was a barber and businessman in Riverbank for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Huey; daughters, Deborah Brescia, Cherise Loff; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Huey, Jr.; an infant daughter; and five siblings.
A graveside service was held Friday, Dec. 3 at Ceres Memorial Park. No visitation.
