Tony C. Lopes, age 89, passed away on March 25, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on July 20, 1933 to Antonio and Mary Lopes of Crows Landing, CA. He went to Orestimba High School, then served in the US Army. In 1959 he married Margie Mello of Waterford, CA.

For 41 years he worked at AL Gilbert Company as a truck driver then field salesman. He retired in 2001. He was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale Lions Club, and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer, loved landscaping his yard, home projects, and went on many friend and family vacations.

He is survived by his beloved wife Margie of 63 years, daughter Pam (Andrew) Ferko of Sacramento, son Anthony (Cindy) Lopes of Livermore, daughter Lynn Lopes of Denver, CO: grandchildren Dru Watson, Lee (Ruth Marie) Watson, and Jessica Hammer.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 89 North Oak Ave., Oakdale. A rosary will precede the mass at 9:30 a.m. A reception will follow the mass in the church hall.
