Toscal Phillips K

Toscal LaGloria Phillips passed away at Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale, Ca on December 24, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. Toscal was born on July 3, 1962 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Willis and Erma McCoy. She was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Reverend F.D. Haynes. Toscal graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1980 and attended San Jose State for two years. She went on to be employed by San Jose Mercury News and Lockey Martin of Mountain View where she met her first and only husband Glenn Phillips (married 1985). Toscal worked for Aerojet and the state of California overseeing parks and recreation. In 1986, she and Glenn were blessed with a daughter whom they named Alana. A few years later, Glenn and Toscal ended their marriage. After her divorce, Toscal moved to Sacramento, Ca. She had three more children over the next 4 years with Ray Anthony Robertson, a son: Ray Ray, and two daughters: Tora and Tempest. Her last child was born in 1995 in Modesto, Ca to Randall Dunham; a son named Rolaun. In 1997, Toscal had moved to Riverbank, Ca where she would be closer to her mother who began helping her raise the last 3 of her 5 children. She, her children, and her mother united at Shiloh Baptist church for 5 years under the leadership of her Uncle, Reverend Willie Anderson. She did not let her children get baptized until they were older and fully understood the meaning behind it.
Toscal always wanted her kids to be able to do anything they set their minds to. She was a swimmer and basketball player so when her kids wanted to play sports, she sold all the candy she had to or bought it (because they ate it), in order to raise enough money for their participation. She helped them with homework, projects, dancing, and served as a confidant. Her children told her everything and she gave some of the best advice when they made mistakes. She was a smart, kind hearted, hilarious, and non-judgmental individual which made her an easy person to love. She worked with many clients doing in home support for 10 years. In 2012, she received Christ as her Lord and Savior once again at Assembly of God in Riverbank with her boyfriend Oveyarn Smith under the leadership of Reverend Elias Cordova.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willis McCoy. Her memory will live on through her mother, Erma Solomon of Riverbank, Ca; her older sister, Teresa Tenner of Modesto, Ca; her younger brother, Eric McCoy of Riverbank, Ca; her five children: Alana Meyers of Las Vegas, NV, Ray Ray Robertson of Oakland, Ca, Tora Robertson of Citrus Heights, Ca, Tempest Robertson of Riverbank, Ca, Rolaun Dunham of Riverbank, Ca, and her grandchild Axel Meyers of Las Vegas, NV. She will also forever be missed by her best friend since high school Stephanie Evans-Jacquet and her boyfriend of 12 years Oveyarn Smith.
Memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. at Riverbank Assembly of God.
