Verda Woodward

Verda Woodward, 86, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Evergreen Rehab. Care Center in Modesto, She was born on March 24, 1921 in Mt. Idée, Arkansas and had been an Escalon resident for 16 years. She was a line supervisor for Barnes-Heinz Laboratories in Sunnyvale. She enjoyed tennis, golf and gardening. She was a member of Escalon First Assembly of God Church (which is now Trinity) where she enjoyed singing and helping out wherever needed at church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ernie; her twin daughters Janice (Denny) Ivy Zucchi of Los Gatos and Janet (August) Dontanville of Long Beach; daughter-in-law Kris Duncan of Vancouver WA; her grandchildren Randy (Dana) Ferris of Davis, Barry (Pauline) Ivy of Olive Hurst, Cheryll (Michael) Dobson of Sacramento, Carolyn (Michael) Melburn of Hubbard Oregon, and Elizabeth (Tim) Whitson of Vancouver WA; nine great grandchildren; and her brother Monroe Phillips of Ivanhoe. She was preceded in death by her son Andrew Woodward in 1993, her parents and 10 of her siblings. Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St. in Escalon. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Assembly of God, 1900 California St. in Escalon. Burial will be private. The Escalon (Calif.) Times Nov. 14, 2007
