About two dozen painters, mostly couples, extended their celebration of Valentine’s Day by participating in last Friday’s Couples Paint Night put on by the Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department at the Teen Center downtown. Nearly two dozen would-be artists gathered at Riverbank’s Teen Center last Friday evening, Feb. 15, extending their Valentine’s Day celebration to participate in a Couples Paint Night.

The special event, put on by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, put most of the participants to work creating, under instruction, a left and right half of a finished work that would display a couple dancing in silhouette in front of a rising moon.

For the one or two ‘singles’ participating, there was a single frame painting of a similar moon-rise activity to be done.

Instructors for the evening were Lorie and Julio Avila, Riverbank residents, who are opening Seeds of Friendship here. Lorie said she has been painting as a hobby for over 30 years.

This event continued a series of similar Sip ‘n Paint events organized by the Recreation Department and held over the past several months.
