Nearly two dozen would-be artists gathered at Riverbank’s Teen Center last Friday evening, Feb. 15, extending their Valentine’s Day celebration to participate in a Couples Paint Night.
The special event, put on by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, put most of the participants to work creating, under instruction, a left and right half of a finished work that would display a couple dancing in silhouette in front of a rising moon.
For the one or two ‘singles’ participating, there was a single frame painting of a similar moon-rise activity to be done.
Instructors for the evening were Lorie and Julio Avila, Riverbank residents, who are opening Seeds of Friendship here. Lorie said she has been painting as a hobby for over 30 years.
This event continued a series of similar Sip ‘n Paint events organized by the Recreation Department and held over the past several months.
