It’s time for the Zombie Escape, as the City of Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department gears up for its Haunted Hayride event.

Scheduled at Jacob Myers Park at 23655 South Santa Fe, the spooky Halloween-themed event will be offered this weekend from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. both Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21.

Hayride prices are $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 4 to 12; those 3 and under are admitted free but must be seated on a lap.

The last ride each evening takes off at 9:30 p.m.

Prior to the actual hayrides, there are some special events planned. On Friday, there will be a Kids Corner at 6:30 p.m., continuing until supplies last with some Halloween fun craft activities for youngsters. On Saturday, come early to enjoy a free movie, The Addams Family, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

The Haunted Hayride has been a late October staple for many years in the community, offering a number of ‘scare sites’ as attendees ride their way through the twists and turns of the Jacob Myers Park area.

Some scenes may be too intense for very young children. A number of local groups typically join in to create the spooky sites and spend a couple of evenings in the park to help scare up some fun.
