The holidays are nearly here, and American Red Cross officials said they are reminded of how important some gifts can be. Platelet donations are a lifesaving gift and critical during December. Those booking appointments to give platelets may also receive some special gifts.

Donors who come to give platelets by Dec. 7 will receive an exclusive Red Cross knit beanie, while supplies last.

Also, get a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card by email when you give platelets between now and Dec.15, thanks to Red Cross’s partners at Amazon.

Two Red Cross long-sleeved donor T-shirts are available for those who come back to give between Dec. 16 and 24, and Dec. 25 and Jan. 3.

Along with platelet donations, Red Cross is always looking for blood donors to help keep the blood supply stable.

The Red Cross follows a high standard of safety and infection control. While donors are no longer required to wear a face mask, individuals may choose to continue to wear a mask for any reason. The Red Cross will also adhere to more stringent face mask requirements per state and/or local guidance, or at the request of blood drive sponsors.
