Police Dismantle Riverbank Illegal Marijuana Grow

Riverbank Police Services deputies continue their essential efforts and recently assisted with taking down an illegal marijuana operation.

During the morning hours of Monday, April 27, deputies assisted city code enforcement in the 2600 block of Sierra Street with an outdoor illegal marijuana grow. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the collection and destruction of the illegal marijuana. They collected 134 plants. Code enforcement found multiple violations for illegal outdoor structures and electrical violations.

Deputies have been busy patrolling the streets of Riverbank and making arrests to keep the community safe. With a new addition to the motorcycle patrol, Deputy Ricky Maldonaldo has now joined Deputy Orr to enforce traffic safety on the city streets. Also, the final week of April and into the first few days of May deputies reported several arrests in connection with a variety of incidents.

On the evening of Saturday, May 2, deputies responded to the 6500 block of Second Street due to a report of vandalism. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim who reported a subject later identified as Danielle Martinez, 24, threatened him with a knife and made threats to kill him. Deputies found evidence that showed Martinez had stabbed interior doors of the residence. When they attempted to place Martinez into custody, she began to resist and struggled with deputies. After they were able to get her into custody, she began to bang her head against the windows inside the patrol car. Deputies placed Martinez into a wrap device for her safety. She was eventually transported and booked at the Sheriff’s Detention Center for threats, brandishing a knife, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and resisting arrest.

During the early morning on Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the 2900 block of Callander Street on the report of a male banging on the front door of a residence. They located a 41-year-old man at the residence. Deputies quickly determined he was extremely intoxicated and was unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and booked at the Sheriff’s Detention Center.

During the morning on Wednesday, April 29, deputies responded to the 2300 block of Bungalow Court on the report that a 65-year-old man had violated a restraining order. Deputies located the man at the property in violation of the order. He was arrested for violation of a restraining order.

On Wednesday afternoon, a Riverbank deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Morrill and Lenay Way for a vehicle code violation. During the stop deputies located a methamphetamine pipe and a small amount of heroin in the cup holder of the vehicle. The 27-year-old male driver was arrested for the illegal drugs, paraphernalia, and for driving on a suspended driver’s license.
