According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $2.65/gallon Monday while the most expensive was $3.67, a difference of $1.02/gallon. The lowest price in the state Oct. 26 was $2.39 while the highest was $4.49, a difference of $2.10/gallon.

The national average price of gasoline was unchanged in the last week, averaging $2.14/gallon. The national average is down 4.2 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 45.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

“Gas price trends continue to be typical for this time of year, easing slightly in most places as demand continues its slow seasonal drop, with potential enhancement from the recent surge in new coronavirus cases,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “More stations are falling back under $2 per gallon, in fact the highest amount of stations since May are now under that level, and I do believe that trend will continue at least for now as improvement in the coronavirus situation remains elusive.”

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.01/gallon, down 5.4 cents from last week’s $3.06; Oakland - $3.26, down 0.3 cents per gallon from $3.27; and San Jose - $3.23, down 1 cent per gallon from last week’s $3.24.
