More than a dozen local students got wet at the Riverbank Swimming Pool on Saturday, July 31, in the third and final session of scuba classes sponsored by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The series was originally scheduled to end July 12, but was postponed because the time was needed by the swim instruction classes. Recreation officials have said this year saw more swimmers learning, as many as 89, in the swim classes.

The scuba series began back on June 12, with instructors teaching all levels of divers.

Scuba classes were part of this summer’s offerings by Parks and Recreation which included aquatic fitness and lap swim programs, as well as the swim lessons and open swimming hours.

With school starting this week, the city’s Recreation Department will soon be issuing its catalogue of fall activities.
