Recreation Plans New Classes

Cartooning lessons, a holiday fun camp and a Senior Turkey Trot Dance were among programs that Parks & Recreation Director Sue Fitzpatrick planned to propose to Riverbank City Council on Monday evening, Aug. 24.

Staff has completed the fall and winter 2009-2010 recreation program schedule and is submitting only new programs and their fees for council approval, Fitzpatrick said in her memo.

Other programs in which fees remain the same or continue as non-fee programs will appear in the activity guide.

No new fees were proposed for facility use or park services at this time.

The new programs include a caricature/cartooning class, a four-week program, for $20; a holiday fun camp of three days costing $20 and a 3 on 3 basketball league/tournament, at $85 per team and lasting eight weeks.

The department also plans a watercolor class, of six weeks, for $30; and a Senior Turkey Trot Dance at $10 per person.

Fitzpatrick proposed small cost increases in two events held last year. The Board Blast skate park event cost would rise from $5 per participant to $10 per competitor; and the San Francisco Bus Trip climb in price from $55 to $60.
