Renovations On Hold At Community Center

Planned renovations at the Riverbank Community Center are currently on hold.

Originally the tentative date for anticipated renovations at the Community Center was set in October; however, the bid was distributed later than what the City of Riverbank originally intended. The bid award process is still in the works and according to Riverbank Parks and Recreation Director Sue Fitzpatrick, it should be going to the City Council on Tuesday, Dec. 11 to request to award the bid.

Once the bid is awarded the renovations should begin late December or in the beginning of January.

Fitzpatrick added that the floor of the main hall will be completely redone, the ceiling, and lighting will be upgraded and the walls improved. Funds from the Housing Related Parks Program, which is a state grant, will fund the project.

“We did not receive the amount of funds we had hoped to but still have enough to improve the main hall,” stated Fitzpatrick. “The kitchen will be done as soon as funding is secured. We will know more of a timeline after the bid is awarded and we receive it from the contractor but it should be done within a couple more months.”
