Riverbank High School’s outgoing principal Dr. Sean Richey was recognized at the Unified School District’s board meeting this past week, his last with the district. He is moving on to become Assistant Superintendent in the Los Banos Unified School District.
Board President Suzanne Dean presented Richey with a certificate recognizing his being named the Secondary Principal of the Year at the Association of California School Administrators at its Region 7 Spring Conference.
He also received a plaque honoring his service to the district, from August 2006 through June 2019, from Dr. Daryl Camp, RUSD Superintendent.
It was Richey’s final board meeting in Riverbank, as he completed his tenure here on Friday, June 7. He was slated to begin his work in Los Banos this week.
The school district in Los Banos, Merced County, is somewhat larger that Riverbank. The most recent population figures put it at 35,000-plus, with three high school campuses, two junior highs and eight elementary schools.
It was also Dr. Camp’s last board meeting, since he is departing for San Lorenzo in Alameda County this summer as well.
Interim RUSD leaders have been appointed by the board recently in light of those departures; Craig Rydquist was named interim Superintendent and Greg Diaz is interim principal at Riverbank High School.
