Stanislaus County Library will host a grand reopening to mark the occasion as the branch in Riverbank officially opens back up to the public later this month.
Officials with the Riverbank Library, at 3442 Santa Fe, will welcome back community members beginning Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. The library, built in 1977, closed in the spring of 2025 to undergo critical infrastructure improvements. The project was made possible due to Building Community Services Investments funds allocated by the County Board of Supervisors and addressed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) deficiencies, water intrusion issues, and asbestos abatement in the floor tiles.
During the closure, Library staff worked with the City of Riverbank to identify a temporary site to provide library services at the nearby Teen Center. The last day of library service at the Teen Center will be Wednesday, Jan. 14. Regular business hours will resume at the Riverbank Library beginning Jan. 17: Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We are beyond excited to welcome our community back to the library,” stated Riverbank Library supervisor Maria Solis. “Along with important building upgrades, we’ve refreshed the space within the building’s current footprint to make it more welcoming and better suited for gathering and connecting, including a larger children’s area for our youngest readers and families.”
The Riverbank Library grand reopening event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Activities are scheduled to include a ribbon cutting, followed by a Bilingual Story Time at 10:15 a.m.
A commemorative sticker will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Light refreshments will be provided by the Stanislaus Library Foundation while supplies last.
