It was a packed house at the F.E.S. Portuguese Hall in Oakdale on Saturday night, Feb. 24 as the Riverbank High School Sports Boosters hosted their annual Crab Feed. It’s a fundraiser that helps the group provide scholarships for graduating seniors.
Other activities the Boosters handle include operating the snack bars for football games, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and track and field.
In addition to the scholarships, the Boosters group also helps pay for sports team uniforms.
The event moved from Riverbank to Oakdale several years ago, after it outgrew the Riverbank Community Center. The F.E.S. Hall is much larger, and includes a large bar area.
Recognizing Outgoing President
In the midst of calling numbers for the numerous door prizes and raffle items, the program paused to recognize the ongoing efforts of outgoing Boosters president Kimi Jennings.
Speakers included family members, including past and present RHS athletes, and her brother, Jeff Jennings, an RHS teacher and retired varsity boys basketball coach. Both are also Bruin alumni.
Jennings’ children included son Chris, an RHS alumni and current boys basketball coach, sister Alyssa Moreno, a Lady Bruin grad in 2022 and current student at California State University Monterey, and son Ethan Moreno, an RHS senior basketball player.
Kimi Jennings was recognized for her 13 years of participation in the Boosters organization, serving much of that time as president. She’ll be stepping down at the end of this school year.
