The Oakdale Animal Shelter has several homeless pets who dream of being warm and safe in a loving forever home. To help more pets find their new homes, the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance is sponsoring an “All You Need is Love” adoption promotion from Thursday, Feb. 14 through Thursday, Feb. 28. The special adoption fee for dogs through this promotion is $50. This fee includes the spay/neuter, current vaccinations, and microchip. The special adoption fee for cats is $25. This fee includes the spay/neuter, feline leukemia testing, microchip, rabies vaccination and the first FRPC vaccination. For residents living within the Oakdale or Riverbank city limits, the fee also includes a current pet license. OSPA will pay the difference between the regular fee and the discounted fee.

The hearts and flowers seen during the month of February can remind us of how important a loving family is, shelter officials pointed out. Families are also important to the homeless pets that are waiting for someone to love and a home to call their own.

While the homeless pets are at the Oakdale Animal Shelter, the OSPA tries to make them as comfortable as possible. During the city council meeting on Jan. 22 the OSPA presented a check to the City of Oakdale to assist in the cost of new cat kennels at the shelter. The total cost for the cat kennels is $7,000 and OSPA contributed half, $3,500.

“The new kennels will offer more space so that the shelter can handle more cats at a time,” said OSPA Vice President Debi Scoles. “They are stainless steel so that they can be properly disinfected when cleaned, helping to lessen contagious illness. The new kennels should be here in a couple of weeks.”

OSPA is dedicated to bringing wonderful families together with loving homeless pets in the community. For more information about the “All You Need is Love” adoption promotion, call the Oakdale Animal Shelter at 209-847-5625.
