Although it’s still officially fall in Riverbank, sign-ups for some winter and spring sports for local youngsters are already on the calendar.

Youth Basketball

Registration for the traditional winter youth basketball clinic began during the Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament at Riverbank High School this past Thursday through Saturday.

The six-week youth league will run on Saturdays from Jan. 5 through Feb. 9, in the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium on the RHS campus, with the first two weeks being clinics, followed by four weeks of competitive play.

Age groups are broken down on a regular schedule for each day. First and second graders are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m., third and fourth graders from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., then both fifth and sixth grade and seventh and eighth grade groups running from 11:15 a.m. to noon each Saturday during the program.

Each child will receive a basketball and a T-shirt. Everybody participates in the two clinics and four games, according to officials.
