Gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 3.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.63/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.6 cents per gallon versus last week to $2.88/gallon, according to GasBuddy.

Average gasoline prices on Oct. 15 in Modesto have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.86/gallon in 2017, $2.58 in 2016, $2.61 in 2015, $3.42 in 2014 and $3.67/gallon in 2013.

Including the change locally during the past week, prices Sunday were 76.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago and are 18.7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 2.6 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 42.5 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Areas near Modesto and their current gas price climate include: Stockton - $3.67/gallon, up 4.3 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.63; Oakland - $3.82, up 0.8 cents from $3.81; and San Jose - $3.81, up 2.0 cents from last week’s $3.79/gallon.
