Spring Youth Sports Sign Ups To Conclude

If you blinked, you might have missed it. Registration for Riverbank Youth Baseball Softball Association’s 2019 season will conclude on Friday, Feb. 1.

It’ll be held at the Castleberg Park Snack Bar from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The park is at 5845 Eighth St., Riverbank.

Opening day is set for March 23, with games running through May.

There are differing fees for the different age levels of play.

Baseball Age Groups: Age cut off is on or before April 30, 2019. For T-Ball, ages 4-6, it’s $90. The Rookies team, ages 7-8, Minors 9-10, and Majors, ages 11-12, registration is $100. Pony ball is for ages 13-15, at $110 per player.

Softball Age Groups: Cut off is on or before Dec. 31, 2019. T-Ball, ages 4-6, is $90. 8-and-under, 10-and-under and 12-and-under is $100, while 14-and-under registration is $110.

Officials note there will be a $50 Snack Bar Deposit, per family, that ensures it will be staffed appropriately during the season. Evaluations (Try-outs) will be held in February, except for T-Ball. Players are asked to come a half-hour ahead of the scheduled time to sign in and get a number. They say to remember cleats and a glove.

Try-outs are set for Feb. 9, with Baseball on the South Field, and Softball on the North Field.

Baseball Try-outs: Rookies try-out at 11:45 a.m. with draft scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Minors try out at 1:15 p.m. with their draft at 3 p.m., and Majors tryouts at 2:30 p.m. and draft at 4:15 p.m.

The Pony team will be evaluated after the High School team is announced.

Softball Try-outs: 8-and-under starts at a 12:45 p.m. with draft announced at 2:15 p.m. 10-and-under starts at 1:45 p.m. with draft set for 3:45 p.m. and 12-and-under starts at 2:45 p.m. with the draft at 4:45 p.m.

Program officials have also announced three major dates for team calendars. Opening Day/Picture Day: On March 23, teams will meet at the Community Center at 8 a.m. for the parade to the ballparks. Riverbank Night at the Modesto Nuts: On April 12, each player will receive a free ticket to the game. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at Castleberg Park Snack Bar. Closing Ceremonies: They’ll be held on May 18 at the park.

All parents are required to volunteer at least two shifts, for a total of six hours, in the snack bar through the season. There is a buyout fee ($100) if they choose not to volunteer. Last day for buyout is Feb. 9.
