Negotiators for Stanislaus County and SEIU Local 521 announced late Wednesday, Jan. 16 that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract for 700 county employees, ending one of the longest strikes in Stanislaus County in years. The proposed contract includes substantial investments to the services provided to some of the county’s most vulnerable community members like children, the elderly, veterans and the homeless.

The tentative deal must still be ratified by Stanislaus County SEIU Local 521 members, as well as, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors.

“Our members were at the forefront of these negotiations throughout. Our commitment and sacrifices to each other for the vital services we provide to our community are the sole reason why we have a tentative agreement that truly invests in our public services,” said Kate Selover, Child Support Officer II and Stanislaus County Chapter President. “This agreement allows us to resume the jobs that we love and move forward with the county on our shared commitment to serving the residents of Stanislaus County.”
