Leader Embodies Perseverance

Joe Duran’s hard work, care for his community and enduring can-do spirit are among the reasons Stanislaus State and the College of Business Administration have chosen him as Stan State’s 2023 Champion of the American Dream honoree. Duran will participate in a fireside chat and share his journey during the annual Champions of the American Dream event at Stanislaus State on Thursday, April 20 in Main Dining. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Porges Family Champion Fellow

Pablo Paredes Romero’s strong interest in entrepreneurship, his educational background in human resources, organizational behavior, development and management, along with a strong desire to serve his community, all aligned earlier this year when he was chosen as the new Porges Champions Faculty Fellow, one of the components of the Warrior Entrepreneur Initiative (WEI).

Workforce Development Hub

More than 25 years after he left Stockton, Aubrey Priest returns with a charge to better familiarize the region’s residents with Stan State and help create programs specifically designed for them as the executive director of the new Innovation and Workforce Development Hub, based at the Stanislaus State Stockton Campus.

In Case You Missed It

Alum Kimiko Vang has experienced a breadth of perspectives, spanning multiple continents and cultures. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand, she spent her early years in France before migrating with her family to the United States, where they settled in Merced County. Years of hard work and dedication to helping others while building a solid career in social work at Merced County paid off for Vang last January when she was promoted to director of the county’s Department of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services.
