Residents are reminded the Riverbank Teen Center will be the scene of a grand opening this coming Saturday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m., complete with tours, speeches and refreshments.

The long awaited center is located on Santa Fe Street adjacent to the Community Center. Off street parking is available at the rear of the building.

Designed by the architectural firm Indigo of Davis and built by Menghetti Construction of Modesto, the $800,000 building was first planned in 2006 in talks between city officials, local teens and the architect, but delayed for adequate finances.

The interior includes an Internet café, a weight room, a lounge for reading, television and music and a room for classes with the building's center left open for group gatherings and table games like pool and ping pong.

All local residents are invited to gather for the grand opening, as a way to celebrate the completion of the project and the availability of a dedicated spot for teens in the community.
