Riverbank's Teen Center is nearing completion with an estimated finish date of Dec. 13 and city staff plan to open the center in January after furnishings are in place and all supplies and equipment purchased, Parks and Recreation Director Sue Fitzpatrick informed city council members on Monday.

The project has progressed well in construction with change orders to date at 6.5 percent and that is well within the contingencies set forth at the project's start.

The Teen Committee is working on recommendations for hours of operation, age limitations, fees for programs and types of programs, she added.

The teens will be shopping at Best Buy later this month and establishing a list of equipment to be purchased with a $10,000 donation they have received.

Staff has met with Riverbank Unified School District representatives to discuss possible collaboration with the After-School programs at both Cardozo Middle and Riverbank High schools.

All estimated operational costs for the first six months have been included in this year's budget.
