A Saturday evening collision between a motorcycle and a PT Cruiser left a Riverbank teen suffering from serious injuries, taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Michael Woods of Riverbank was driving a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Mitchell Road, south of Finch Road in Modesto when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 and the CHP report listed Woods as driving in excess of 60 mph. His motorcycle traveled to the left through the turn and collided with the concrete median wall. After colliding with the wall, Woods lost control of the motorcycle and traveled into the path of the PT Cruiser, driven by an 81-year-old woman from Ceres. The two vehicles collided and Woods was ejected from the motorcycle, striking the windshield of the car before coming to rest on the roadway. Both Woods and the Ceres woman - who had minor injuries - were taken to Memorial Medical Center.

Authorities said alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
