Local Marines and former Marines will be joining with the Central Valley Community Resources organization this weekend to collect toys to benefit local youngsters.

The annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots toy drive will be held in conjunction with a car show at Save Mart Riverbank, in the Crossroads Shopping Center. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3.

The program is also sponsored by the Riverbank Community Collaborative and the Pentecostals of Riverbank. Residents are being encouraged to come and enjoy the classic car show and, at the same time, donate a new, unwrapped toy being collected through the Toys for Tots campaign. The goal of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve-led program is to make sure that area youngsters in need this holiday season will be able to receive a gift for Christmas.

The event, including the toy drive and car show, is set to run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
