Two arrests made in Waterford shooting

An investigation by Waterford Police Services (WPS) into a shooting that occurred in the city on Feb. 2, 2026 has resulted in two arrests. The shooting occurred behind the Pioneer Market in the 12000 block of Yosemite Boulevard, with no injuries reported. WPS, with the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU), located and arrested two local men in connection with this shooting.

The primary suspect of the shooting was identified as Diego Ochoa, 18, of Waterford. He was located and arrested in Modesto on Feb. 4.

During a subsequent service of a search warrant at Ochoa’s residence to recover additional evidence, investigators identified a second suspect, Luis Ochoa, 21, also of Waterford. As deputies attempted to detain him, he fled the scene, leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle pursuit was discontinued. The suspect was later located and arrested in Turlock. At the conclusion of this investigation, deputies located four firearms, two of which were confirmed stolen.

Diego Ochoa was arrested for assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm and brandishing a firearm. Luis Ochoa was arrested for receiving stolen property, obstruction and evading.
