Variety Of Calls Keep RPS Deputies On The Go

Members of the Riverbank Police Services continue patrolling the streets of Riverbank and have answered several calls for service in recent days from reckless driving to resisting arrest. They will continue to be proactive in the safety of the citizens.

During the afternoon on Saturday, Dec.19, deputies were dispatched to the Carl’s Jr. parking lot on the report of a fight. They located the two involved and ultimately arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Deputies stopped a 34-year-old man for CVC violations as he was riding his bike in the 3200 block of Atchison on Friday, Dec. 18 in the evening. The man was found to be in possession of illegal paraphernalia commonly used to ingest methamphetamine. He was arrested for the violation without incident.

Deputies stopped a man identified as Douglas Wilson, 59, near Eighth and Sierra streets for vehicle code violations during the early morning hours on Thursday, Dec. 17. A records check showed he had a warrant for his arrest. Wilson was arrested for the felony warrant without incident.

On Thursday evening, deputies assisted on a call in the 5900 block of Stretch Drive. While they were there deputies learned that a 32-year-old man had an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and booked into jail.

Around 10 p.m. on Thursday, deputies witnessed a vehicle driving recklessly and breaking traction near Oakdale and Candlewood Place. Deputies stopped the driver, an 18-year-old man, and cited him for reckless driving.

Deputies were dispatched to the report of an intoxicated person stumbling in the 3900 block of California Avenue on Thursday evening. They located a 50-year-old man who displayed obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. He was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and for outstanding warrants.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 15, deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle near Claribel Road and Roselle Avenue for a vehicle code violation. The driver fled and led deputies on a short pursuit. The motorcycle crashed in a nearby orchard and the driver fled on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend the driver, identified as Matthew Ziedmen, 36, a short distance away and the firearm he tossed while running. Ziedmen was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing and resisting a peace officer.

On Tuesday evening, deputies were dispatched to the 5700 block of Dainty Court on a domestic dispute. After their investigation deputies arrested a 23-year-old woman in the case. During her arrest, she kicked and fought with deputies. After she was taken into custody she was also charged for assault on a peace officer.
