The local American Veterans First organization has scheduled a special Flag Retirement Ceremony for this weekend.

It will be held at their facility, at 6436 Oakdale Road, near Patterson Road. The ceremony on Saturday, June 17 will begin at 11 a.m., and is being conducted as a memorial for Marine Corporal Michael D. Anderson, Jr.

Following the retiring of the flag, they’ll be offering hot dogs, chips and drinks for those in attendance.

Organizers noted that another veterans group, Veterans in Action, will be holding a “Pray for America” event in partnership with the flag retirement, beginning at 10 a.m., at the same location.
