Virtual Town Hall Meeting Regarding Relay
American Cancer Society Relay For Life
The American Cancer Society sponsored Relay for Life in Ceres is set for April 12-13, 2014 but sign-ups for teams are being taken at registration night on Tuesday, Sept. 17 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Supermoms Frozen Yogurt, 2531 E. Whitmore Avenue, Ceres.

While the coronavirus has forced the postponement of the planned May 2 and 3 Relay For Life, officials are hosting a ‘virtual town hall meeting’ on April 1 to discuss the situation.

Combining the communities of Oakdale, Escalon, Riverbank and Waterford, the 24-hour signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society was to be hosted on the soccer fields at Oakdale High School in early May. ACS officials have cancelled all events through at least mid-May at this point, in response to COVID-19. However, they are looking at ways to put together a shorter Relay event for later in the year, either late summer or early fall.

Wednesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. is the time for the virtual meeting on Facebook LIVE, follow the page: “Relay For Life of Oakdale/Escalon/Riverbank/Waterford” to be able to join the discussion. Everyone interested in learning more about the plans for a rescheduled event are encouraged to join in the Facebook LIVE meeting.

ACS Community Development Manager Benazir Ali will be hosting the session. She is the staff partner for the local Relay For Life and will provide any updates and also moderate the open forum.
