Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will be offered during February and March at local libraries including the Riverbank branch at 3442 Santa Fe and the Oakdale Library on South First Avenue. Volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide income tax preparation assistance.
The volunteers will be at the Riverbank Library on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; call 209-869-7008 for an appointment.
On Thursdays, volunteers will be at the Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; call 209-847-4204 for an appointment.
Taxpayers will be given an appointment time to complete an intake form and drop off tax documents. Tax preparation will be completed off-site by certified volunteer tax preparers, with completed returns available for pick-up the following week. Appointment times are limited, so interested parties are urged to call for an appointment as soon as possible.
