Vote Totals Favor O'Brien For Mayor

Riverbank voters have appeared to turn out incumbent mayor Virginia Madueno in favor of city councilman Richard O'Brien, in election results from Tuesday's general election.

With 12 of 12 precincts reporting in - but no absentee results counted yet - O'Brien had polled 2,288 votes for 52 percent. Madueno was at 48 percent with 2,144 votes.

In the Riverbank City Council race, incumbent Jeanine D. Tucker was the top vote getter, with 1,453 votes. Seven candidates were on the ballot with two available positions. Second place was too close to call, without the absentees counted, though Darlene Barber-Martinez had a slight edge, 1,319 to 1,311 votes, over Cal Campbell. Also in the running are Leanne Jones Cruz with 1,013 votes; Kathy Salvatore, 757; Jessica Molina, 723; Anthony D. McKinney, 475.

Jeff Denham had a sizeable 55 to 45 percent lead over challenger Jose Hernandez in the race for the10th Congressional District seat, with incumbent 12th District Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen reelected over challenger Christopher Mateo, 61 percent to 29 percent.
