Local fast food aficionados got a welcome surprise over the weekend: Riverbank’s newly-remodeled McDonald’s Restaurant reopened after several months of closure. What began last year as a simple expansion project encountered multiple revisions and delays. Located at the corner of Oakdale and Patterson roads, the work was held back for weeks by a need to redesign the heating/cooling system. In addition to an expanded indoor dining area, the remodeled McDonald’s sports a new design for its drive-thru — two lanes merging to one — just before the pay window. Frequent diners are hoping this will help solve the problem of cars lining up all the way out onto the city street at peak times.
