Winds, Humidity Combine For Red Flag Warning
NWS

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from 11 a.m. Monday morning, May 30 through 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, May 31.

Winds will include northerly winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Strongest winds are expected Monday.

Humidity levels will see minimum humidity at 10 to 15 percent with overnight recoveries of 30 to 55 percent.

The greatest threat will be on the west side of the Sacramento Valley, mainly along and west of Interstate 5. The watch includes the Northern San Joaquin Valley in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties below 1000 feet.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
