Emergency crews had to free a construction worker from the site of the under-construction Raising Cane’s restaurant in the Riverbank Crossroads near Costco on Friday, after he was impaled on rebar.
According to authorities, the worker was on scaffolding while working on Friday afternoon, April 11 but somehow fell off the scaffold and was impaled on a three-foot piece of rebar. The rebar penetrated the worker’s back and came out through his chest.
Responding personnel said the worker, whose name and age were not released, was “conscious and alert” when they arrived on scene. The emergency services personnel were able to utilize a small handheld circular saw, able to access the rebar underneath the victim and cut it from the bottom, allowing him to be freed.
He was then transported to an area hospital for treatment; the incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m.
No update was available on his condition at press time.
