A Riverbank youth and his family were recognized by the Stanislaus County Library System and the Riverbank City Council for his accomplishment during a summer reading program.

Garrett Wadsworth, surrounded by his family, including a brother, two sisters and his parents, was presented with an official Commendation of Achievement from the council by Mayor Richard O’Brien. The award was made at the beginning of the council’s Tuesday, Sept. 11 meeting.

Riverbank Branch Librarian Vicky Holt was also on hand.

Garrett was presented with an official certificate that recognized his determination to win the library’s Summer Reading Challenge, held between May 22 and Aug. 7 this year.

Participants kept track of the books they read, checking off boxes on a form. For each seven hours they read, they could enter into a prize drawing. Luckily, there was no limit as to how many times he could enter.

Garrett was recognized for the commendable achievement of reading for 56 hours during the summer.
