Dominique Germann of Ceres was selected as the 2013-14 Dairy Princess for the California Milk Advisory Board’s (CMAB) District 6. The crowning took place before a crowd of approximately 300 dairy industry members and their families and friends, on Saturday, June 1 at Our Lady of the Assumption Hall in Turlock.

Retiring Dairy Princess Katie Migliazzo ended her reign by turning over the title to Dominique, and wished her well as she represents the California dairy industry throughout the coming year.

The teen will represent District 6, which includes Alameda, Mariposa, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. As Dairy Princess, she will play an important role on the CMAB’s Communications Services team in meeting community relations objectives.

The daughter of Andy and Jackie Germann, Dominique graduated from Central Valley High School on June 7.

First Alternate, Caitlin Lopes, is the daughter of Carlos and Colleen Lopes of Los Banos. Caitlin attends Los Banos High School.

Caitlin will assist the new District 6 Dairy Princess in her duties, which include speaking on behalf of the California dairy industry at schools, service clubs, with the media, and at numerous public events throughout the year.

In addition, the Dairy Princess and her First Alternate will attend a training session, including presentation skills, a CMAB orientation, and a tour of a processing facility.

Along with the excitement of naming the new Dairy Princess, the candidates voted Abigail Coelho as Miss Vitality.

Each candidate also received a scholarship from the District 6 Dairy Princess Committee: Kristen Nascimento $200; Caitlin Lopes $400; Crestina Batchelor $500; Christine Azevedo and Abigail Coelho both $900; and Dominique Germann $1,500.

The District 6 Dairy Princess Committee instituted two new Future in Agriculture scholarships for male high school seniors and junior college students who are either continuing or starting their agriculture degrees. Inaugural recipients included Modesto Junior College (MJC) students Anthony Drumonde of Stevinson and Eric Migliazzo of Atwater who both received $500, and Anton Fernandes of Hilmar who received $500 to begin his agriculture education in college.

Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Curt Andre. Contestants were judged on poise, personality, speaking ability, education and dairy background.
