The Riverbank High School soccer team won both its matches, defeating Ripon by 2-1 on Tuesday, and then beating Ripon Christian, 4-2, on Thursday.

Forwards Jesus Yepez and Alejandro Pantoja each scored against Ripon.

"It was a nice shot by Pantoja," said Riverbank coach Martin Gonzales. "He gathered the ball, brought it under control, and shot low into the right side of the net with two minutes left on the clock."

Ripon tied the game by halftime by calling for "hands" and winning a penalty kick.

"We dominated their defense and played in their territory the last 12 minutes, but couldn't get a good shot off until Pantoja's," said Gonzales.

It was a harder battle against Ripon Christian on Thursday, with all six of the goals coming in the first half.

"But we dominated in the send half. They had eight or nine people trying to keep us out of their goal."

The RC goals came off defensive mistakes by Riverbank. "We did not mark up their players. Those goals should never have happened," said Gonzales.

Francisco De Los Santos scored two goals for Riverbank. Yepez and Lisandro Reyes netted one goal each.

In goal, Arturo Albor made six saves against Ripon and three against Ripon Christian with Raymundo Garnica contributing three more saves.

Nearing the end of the season, the Bruins were set to play Escalon on Oct. 26, and they will face Hughson away on Thursday. Next week's final league game is at home to Livingston on Tuesday.
