Booters Net Win

Bruin booters netted two goals against Amador, and should have been credited with another that went through a hole in the net before it was found and taped shut, according to Riverbank coach Martin Gonzales.

The non-league away match against Amador on Tuesday was the only action of the week, and yielded a comparatively easy 2-0 win.

Ten minutes into the game, Bruin forward Jesus Yepez received a pass, waltzed around a defender and tapped the ball into the corner of the Amador net.

Fifteen minutes after halftime, Yepez again scored on a pass from Francisco De Los Santos.

"They were good but we had them," Gonzales said of the opposition. "We dominated and we played as a team."

Gonzales complained, however, of some Amador fans making racial slurs at the Riverbank goalie that led the referee to remove the offenders from the sidelines.

"That kind of thing causes us to bond together and become even more positive in our play," said Gonzales.

Riverbank goalie Alturo Albor was kept moderatly busy and made four saves.

This week, the Bruins return to league action and play Ripon Christian on Tuesday and Escalon on Thursday. Both the games are away.
