While most Riverbank High athletes were taking the week of spring break off last week, Bruin varsity baseball players competed in a tournament in Ceres.

On Monday, April 22, they played against Grace M. Davis High School from Modesto, losing to the Spartans, 12-2 in five innings. Their next game was on Wednesday, against host Ceres, which they lost to the Bulldogs, 15-4 in six innings. Last Thursday, April 25, they took on Central Valley of Ceres, falling to the Hawks 8-0 in six innings.

There were only four games remaining in the Bruins’ regular baseball season, where they are scheduled to play Modesto Christian this week, at home on April 30 after The News went to press and away at MC on Thursday, May 2. Next week, it’s two games against Hilmar, at home on Tuesday, May 7 (Senior Night), and away on Wednesday.

Softball will wrap up its season, beginning Wednesday, May 1 on the road in Hughson, while on Friday May 3, they host Modesto Christian and then have a final home game, Senior Night, against the Lady Cougars of Escalon on Wednesday, May 8.

Riverbank Track and Field athletes, both boys and girls, will continue training for the Division IV/V Trials, to be held on Wednesday and Friday, May 8 and 10, at Chavez High School in Stockton. The Sac-Joaquin Section Trials are set for Thursday and Friday, May 16 and 17, at Elk Grove High School.
