Riverbank got the best of Escalon in their Trans-Valley League soccer match this week, and the Bruins battled Ripon to a 1-1 tie as play continues full speed ahead in league.

Traveling to Escalon on Monday, Sept. 23, the Bruins shut out the defending TVL champs, 2-0, getting one of the goals on a penalty kick. The teams battled down to the wire last season for the league title and it's possible the same will hold true this year. At the very least, both the Bruins and Cougars are expected to be in the mix for one of two available postseason berths from the TVL.

Taking on the Ripon Indians on Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Bruins forged a 1-1 tie, getting the goal from Jesus Cerda. Hugo Yepez had the assist and goaltender Hugo Calderon had five saves in the net.

Action this week has the Bruins traveling to Modesto Christian to face off with the Crusaders on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and then hosting Ripon Christian in a Monday game, Oct. 6. Their second head-to-head match up with Escalon will be Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Riverbank.
