It was a successful trip to Tracy for the Riverbank High School varsity football team this past week, while other RHS squads had a tougher time of it. Here is a look at recent league action for the teams.
Bruin Football
Riverbank was on the road for a Friday, Oct. 3 contest, taking on the Millennium Falcons in Tracy, winning, 36-0. The Bruins shut out the host team as the Falcons staged their Homecoming festivities. It was Riverbank’s first win in Mother Lode League play this season.
Latest stats for the varsity squad show Adrian Montes the leader in average rushing yards per game with 72 and in total touchdowns with five. Lucien Hodge is the leading tackler on the defensive side of the ball, averaging five per game.
This week, the Bruins are scheduled to host Big Valley Christian High School from Modesto with a 7 p.m. kickoff, celebrating Senior Night on Friday, Oct. 10. Later this month, on Oct. 24, the Bruins will observe their Fall Homecoming.
Lady Bruin Volleyball
A match at home and one on the road both went in the loss column for the varsity volleyball Lady Bruins. They were home to host Calaveras first, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and were swept by the Lady Red Hawks, falling 13-25, 12-25, 12-25. Later in the week, they traveled to face off against Bret Harte and also were swept in that Thursday, Oct. 2 contest. Scores were 12-25, 15-25, 12-25. The girls are next scheduled to play at Linden on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Lady Bruin Flag Football
The girls had two games last week on the gridiron, both on the road. On Tuesday, Sept. 30 they traveled to Lathrop to take on the River Islands High School Lady Riptide, falling 2-0, in Mother Lode League action. The only scoring was in the first quarter.
Thursday, Oct. 2, Riverbank visited Mariposa County High School, falling to the Lady Grizzlies, 31-13. Both Riverbank touchdowns were scored by senior Raquel Jimenez. On offense, junior Mia Aguilar-Cerillos had six catches for 67 yards in the game while also adding five solo tackles on defense.
The girls are scheduled to play at Millennium on Oct. 9 and host Gustine on Oct. 14.
Co-Ed Cross Country
Riverbank runners are scheduled to travel to Woodward Park in Fresno this weekend, to compete in the Clovis Invitational.
Lady Bruin Golf
The linksters were to host Summerville at Ripon Golf Club in Tuesday action, Oct. 7.
