Bruin Sports Continue Winter Preseason Campaign

Though the student body had the whole week off for Thanksgiving last week, some of Riverbank High School’s athletes found themselves playing non-league games. Here is a wrap of the action for the Bruin squads.

 

Lady Bruin Basketball

RHS varsity girls had two games last week, winning both, on the home court. On Monday, Nov. 21, they hosted Turlock’s Lady Bulldogs, finishing on top, 55-41. The next day, Central Catholic High School of Modesto came to town, leaving on the low side of the 57-30 final score.

Combined with their win the week before, against Oakdale, the Riverbank varsity girls have a 3-0 preseason record so far.

This week, with classes back in session, the girls were to host Ceres on Tuesday, Nov. 29, after The News went to press, and travel to Summerville in Tuolumne County on Thursday, Dec. 1. They’ll be playing non-league games through December, starting with Trans-Valley League action the first week of January, after the winter break.

 

Lady Bruin Soccer

Riverbank varsity girls lost their first full home match to Oakdale in a close one, 1-0, on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Next, they were to play at home Wednesday, Nov. 30, hosting Gustine, and Millennium from Tracy is scheduled to be in town on Thursday, Dec. 1. Varsity game times are 5:30 p.m., at Angelo Novi Stadium.

 

Bruin Soccer

The Bruin varsity boys brought back a 2-0 win from McNair High School in Stockton on Tuesday, Nov. 22. They were to host Golden Valley High School from Merced on Monday, Nov. 28. On Wednesday, Nov. 30 they travel to Central Valley High School in Ceres. This weekend, they’ll play in the Hughson Tournament.

 

Bruin Basketball

Varsity hoop boys had their two non-league games on the road last week. On Monday, Nov. 21, they played at Mariposa County, losing a close one, 55-53. Last Wednesday, they also fell, 45-36, at Enochs High School in Modesto.

Riverbank was to open its home season with the traditional Foundation Game on Monday, Nov. 28. It is a fundraiser for the Trans-Valley League that traditionally kicks off the basketball season for all teams.

The Bruins annual Kick-Off Tournament is Thursday through Saturday this week, Dec 1 through 3.
