Coming into Trans-Valley League play after the preseason concluded, the Riverbank Bruins knew that their remaining 2008 schedule would include no easy victories. With a win in preseason and some flashes of offensive and defensive promise, the early positive signs for the 2008 season has made their current trip through TVL play that much more difficult to accept.

Riverbank ran into a frustrated Ripon High squad and got handled mightily as Ripon posted a 47-0 victory over the Bruins on Nov. 7.

The Bruins were unable to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball, walking away with their second consecutive shutout defeat and third in four contests.

Ripon took advantage of every opportunity that presented itself, scoring early and often in just their second victory in TVL play this season. The bruising Ripon rushing attack simply was too much for the Bruin frontline to solve.

The Bruins will close out a frustrating season with a home game against the Hughson Huskies. Hughson will want to put a closing stamp on a season that has been well short of the Huskies expectations.

Riverbank can find a way to put a much-needed positive spin on an otherwise frustrating season.

Bruin seniors Donovan Wallace and Jose Moreno are the key components to any chance the Bruins may have in posting a 'W' in the final contest.

Hughson is coming off of a 26-13 win over the Ripon Christian Knights, proving that earlier strong showings against Escalon and Modesto Christian were no fluke performances from the Huskies.

Hughson battled Escalon to a 20-6 loss and plastered Modesto Christian for 36 points scored before falling to the Crusaders 63-36.

Riverbank will have to put together a complete performance if they plan on closing out TVL play with their first league win of the season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Riverbank High.
